When the 2020 Coronavirus lock downs and quarantine began Loid purchased the iPad Pro, Apple Pencil and the painting app ProCreate. With those tools he developed a new form of Art.

After a month of frustration at being unable to draw or paint anything that he liked, Loid found ProCreate's radial symmetry guide. The symmetry guide is a tool that is present in every painting and drawing program that has ever existed. That is when he stopped TRYING to make art and instead began to slowly and deliberately PULL infinitely random abstract art into this world from some other dimension where it seemed to have already existed. He had done this 20 years earlier while living in Rome, Italy with the painting program Corel Draw where he created about 10 paintings that his oldest friend told him looked like mandalas.

The words Symmetrical Painting seemed to describe this new form of art better than the word mandala. Mandalas are always circular, much more repetitive and evoke prejudged design expectations. All paintings on this website began as random scribbles made while in a trance like state trying to deal with a period in modern history that at times felt like the end of the world.

The first weekend of March 2020 Loid began a Photoshop exploration for a never completed oil painting. His intent was to get a vision out of his head about an approaching chaos in his life and world.
The first weekend of March 2020 Loid began a Photoshop exploration for a never completed oil painting. His intent was to get a vision out of his head about an approaching chaos in his life and world.
Little attention had been paid to news reports about the "coronavirus". They were mostly ignored remembering all the various short-lasting news stories over the years regarding "swine flu", " bird flu" etc. His first indication that this latest virus in the news was something serious was the middle of March 2020 when Disneyland, California announced it was closing down it's parks and hotels for 2 weeks. This was unprecedented. The California theme park had only closed for one day after 9/11 which had been the biggest world changing event in his lifetime. A week later Disneyland announced in would close... indefinitely with no opening date! Within a week the global economy crippling 2020 coronavirus lock-downs and quarantine began. The most famous theme park in the world would remain closed for more than a year because of the enormous life changing world wide social disaster that was COVID-19.

In the Fall of 2019 Loid was forced by his boss to take an Oil Painting class, she was in the process of creating, as part of his job.

He had not used any kind of paint in 8 years since 2012 when he painted his solar visions that eventually caused psychosis.

He had only ever experimented with Acrylic and Glow Paint. The idea of oil painting was intimidating but because it became part of his job he tried his best. He was sure he had learned everything that was contained in his boss's online oil painting course. It was his job to give feedback and help improve the lectures and videos that where in the process of being created... and to make art.
